| “Could opposition forces capable of functioning exist in Ukraine today?” |
Oleh Soskin, director of the Institute of Society Transformation answers the question of "Компаньйон" (“Companion”) magazine: “Could opposition forces capable of functioning exist in Ukraine today?”
- It is obvious that opposition capable of functioning can exist in Ukraine, but is should be opposition with an ideological basis. So, left and right opposition. Why does the existing opposition is unable to attain its aims and throw the ruling regime down? First of all right opposition should unite both represented and not represented in parliament parties. Opposition in parliament should join V.Yuschenko and take his position – anti-regime position. There shouldn’t be new strategic mistakes, moreover dilettante mistakes, like the one when “Our Ukraine” supported programme of the government. It shows low quality of methodological work in the center of parliamentary opposition. Given several such mistakes more and V.Yuschenko’s block “Our Ukraine” will be recognized not competent and not professional. Since the discredit the core idea of right opposition by own actions. Today we need an alliance of left and right opposition based on common ideology. The main strategic aim should be throwing over of the current regime. Support of non-parliamentary opposition is necessary to achieve this aim. And Yuschenko is too weak to oppose the regime at power by himself today. |
