Ukraine-NATO Civic League concerned the issue that politically motivated terror of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine (STA) executed against LCF "Institute of Society Transformation" (Director, Mr. Oleg Soskin). We believe that the STA actions caused by political put-up job and demonstrate an open attack against civil society to neutralize it. Today imperious regime retraces the same path as the Belarusian dictator O. Lukashenko. First, to liquidate open faced political opponents. Next step is to neutralize NGOs that promote civil society values.We appeal to the Ukrainian NGOs to support and protect Institute of Society Transformation.

Mr. President, According to the Constitution of Ukraine, you are the guarantor of the Constitution and shall fully protect the interests of Ukraine. Unfortunately present reality is different one now. It can be seen very clear that you do not protect the interests of Ukraine and vice versa: your efforts directed to prejudice the Ukrainian state and Ukrainian nation. Do not behave as a usurper violating Article 5 of the Constitution of Ukraine. Stop the war against the Ukrainian nation and state! Start to defend Ukraine!

Internet-Portal OSP-UA.INFO interviewed a public activist and deputy of the Leninsky district council from the political party Front for Change Dmytro Verzilov. It is to be recalled Dmytro was brutally beaten on March 4, after returning back from the local prosecutor's office, where he was interrogated since 10 am till 7.45 pm.

Visiting Kaniv (Cherkassy region) on March 9 President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych noted during a meeting with journalists that he wanted to appoint Petro Poroshenko, current chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Council as Minister of Economic Development and Trade. Ukrainian National Conservative Party perceived positively reluctance of Petro Poroshenko to come to the government of national betrayal, headed by Mykola Azarov. Mr Poroshenko as an experienced politician and businessman understands this Cabinet is like a corpse in coffin. For the time being it is ready for the cemetery. Therefore, to work in the current government is absolutely stupid thing.

This is an observation (which is getting more confirmed) that Yanukovych draws to a variety of tragedy and turmoil as a "black hole". Another tragic accident occurred in Yenakiyevo on 29 February, 2012 at Yanukovych small motherland, where he spent his criminal youth. 6 people were killed due to the accident in one of the illegal coal pits where artisanal mining of coal was carried out. Through the example of Yenakiyevo we can see a pitiable situation this city was led to and terrible living conditions of its inhabitants. It is a demonstrative example which future is waiting for Ukraine if Yanukovych stays in power a month, two, three, a year or, as he states, runs for second term as president. In this case, the whole Ukraine will be transformed into Yenakievo “coal pits". It will be such a terrible reservation and all of us will become captives of the concentration camp named by Yanukovych.

On Monday evening, 4 March, a social activist and deputy of the Leninsky district council from the political party Front for Change Dmytro Verzilov was beaten in Donetsk. Obviously, that atrocious act was organized by Yanukovych and his “entourage”. It can be seen clearly that paranoia began. Yanukovych has finally followed suit of President Lukashenko.

Unscheduled inspections executed by the State Tax Inspectorate completely paralyzed the activity of "Institute of Society Transformation," foundation, a political analyst and director of the organization Oleg Soskin said to From-UA correspondent. "The people who came with an inspection did not camouflage that the order was. They were told that would get fired if would not find anything. Of course, they have found nothing. Then they started to blackmail and "abuse" our partners for the joint activity. Those actions cannot be called otherwise, than a political prosecution by using a repressive machinery of the tax bodies. This is a Stalinist, Soviet, Communist and KGB style practice", the economist said [March 5, 2012].

Terror of the Tax authorities against Institute of Society Transformation picks up steam. On March 1, 2012 the State Tax Administration in Ukraine began a new phase of terror. They launched an attack against partners of Institute of Society Transformation. Examinations of their documentation are being executed now. The scale and atrocity of the persecution show that Mr Yanukovych and his entourage are personally involved in the terror against the Institute of Society Transformation. I

Let me state respect and thank you for your declaration concerning the legitimacy of tax audit activities against "Institute of Society Transformation" foundation led by me and actions aimed at protection of our organization. We assure once again, that you in actual fact advocate democratic values, free civil society, rights and freedoms of person and citizen. Taking this occasion we would like to inform the Tax authority not only continues to attack the Institute of Society Transformation, but also began examinations of our partners. That fact clearly indicates more massive persecution of NGOs and business in Ukraine.

The current government started to use all sorts of dirty methods to displace ideas and opinions that differ from the pro-governmental from the public space. This was stated by Ms Nataliia Korolevska, leader of the USDP, commenting an appeal to her address by Oleg Soskin, director of the Сharity Foundation "Institute of Society Transformation", about an unscheduled and absurd inspection of the NGO by tax authorities in Kiev. She associates the pressure of power with the opposition activity of the Institute.
