INSTITUTE OF SOCIETY TRANSFORMATION aims its activity at working out and implementing of specific mechanisms of:

• realization of Euro-Atlantic model of development of Ukraine;
  
• strategic relationship between Ukraine and Poland;
  
• establishment of "triangle" Germany - Poland - Ukraine;
  
• real imbuing of Ukraine-Russia relations by peace co-existence principle;
  
• Ukraine's accession to NATO and European Union;
  
• establishment of Baltic-Black Sea Economical Union;
  
• strengthening of local government, establishment and development of systematic dialogue between local government and business circles, also NGOs and research institutes; all-sufficient economical development of Ukrainian cities;
  
• improvement of Ukraine's financial, banking and tax systems;
  
• forming private property institutions, development of small and middle business;
  
• transformation of education system of Ukraine; etc.

1. "Forming Ukrainian-Polish Partnership on Municipal Level". Project foresees consummation of the model of cooperation between cities of Ukraine and Poland worked out by IST. 10 pairs of cities practice this model today.
   
2. Work Arrangement of Municipal Advisory Bureau, created in IST at the beginning of 2000 enlisting the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands.
   
3. Forming Web-Resources of Institute of Society Transformation, Cities and Companies of Ukraine. IST has developed and maintains now own Internet-portal Soskin.Ukraine.Portal (Ukrainian and English versions available). Information about Institute's activities, news of Ukrainian cities and companies are distributed to e-mail addresses of institutions and persons from Ukraine, Russia, Baltic States, Poland, Germany, Canada, USA, Finland etc.
   
4. Publishing and distributing of the monthly research journal "Economic Annals-ХХІ".

Strengthening of the Local Governing the key activity direction of the INSTITUTE OF SOCIETY TRANSFORMATION

• Ukraine-Holland project "Strong Mayors - powerful democracy" (1999 2000).
  
• Ukraine-Canada project "The Correlation of Legal and Practical Mechanisms of Local Governing" (2000).
  
• Ukraine-Poland-America project "Forming Mechanisms of Regional Cooperation between Local Government and Business Circles of Ukraine and Poland" (2000 2001).
  
• Ukraine-Holland project "Interaction between Municipal Authorities and NGOs ensuring of democratic reforms deepening in Ukraine" (2001).
  
• Own project "Forming Ukrainian-Polish Partnership on Municipal Level" (2001 2002), according to which IST:
  
  • forms partnership pairs of Ukrainian and Polish cities;
    
  • organizes visits of mayors and businessmen from Ukraine and Poland to conclude cooperation treaties;
    
  • selects companies from Ukraine and Poland to establish a cooperation;
    
  • promotes setting up joint Ukrainian-Polish companies and development agancies;
    
  • searches for potential investors for companies;
    
  • designs and supports websites of cities and companies in the framework of IST's project "Ukrainian Cities on the Internet";
    
  • organizes and holds conferences, workshops, roundtables on problems of forming partnership between local authorities and business circles of Ukraine and Poland.

Town councils of 100 Ukrainian cities are partners of Institute of Society Transformation.
